The phenomenal ice hockey goalkeeper, the member of the IIHF Hall of Fame, he started at three Olympiads and ten World Championships – he won a medal at all of them. He got three gold medals (1972, 1976, 1977), three silver medals (1965, 1966, 1968) and four bronze medals (1963, 1964, 1969, 1970) at the World Championship. The Olympic tournament was the World Championship two times (1964 and 1968). He experienced the greatest fame at the Canada Cup in its year I. He   concede no goal from the greatest stars of the NHL in a match against Canada. After the end of its player career, he acted as a coach in Germany, where he suddenly passed away at the age of 53.
